Job Description

The Business Development Manager – CE retailer is responsible for developing new business and maintaining and driving revenue at assigned accounts to achieve efficient and profitable sales of the company’s products.  Assist team to optimize existing accounts and prospects while establishing and maintaining strong relationships with the accounts.  Interface with other departments as needed to drive business within accounts and resolve any issues that may arise. Qualified candidates will have experience selling directly to CE retailer in Japan.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate an ability to build and/or establish and maintain relationships with key contacts within assigned accounts including product managers, merchants, buyers, planners, etc.
  • Meet or exceed sales and profit goals established by senior management.
  • Develop and execute business plans with NSM to meet assigned goals.
  • Exhibit strong leadership skills and motivate sales team to perform their duties in an excellent fashion.
  • Strive to increase net sales and net profit by reducing Returns and Allowances.
  • Assist National Sales Manager with inside or outside sales calls, website and catalog analysis, or store visits.
  • Collaborate with sales team to ensure best practices and information is shared to maximize results and achieve goals.
  • Assist customers with account related questions, issues and concerns. Provide accurate, timely information to the customers regarding inquiries such as products, pricing, and quotes.
  • Conduct weekly reviews of sales, RMAs, returns & allowances (R&A), quotes, promotions, sell through, inventory management, turns, forecasts, and any other account activities that will impact financial results for the account(s), and report findings to NSM.
  • Provide customer recaps for all meetings and take a leadership role to ensure all action items.
  • Follow the sales team’s procedures for managing and maintaining opportunity pipeline, quotes, bids, etc. and be prepared to present that information when requested.
  • Analyze and understand industry market trends, competition, products, and pricing that may impact sales efforts and communicate this information to sales management and other departments as necessary.
  • Assist in optimizing profitability at each assigned account.
  • Conduct sales and training meetings as required.  Attend required meetings.
  • Review and analyze daily sales and compare actual vs. projected / plan results and be prepared to present that information when requested.
  • Recognize and escalate any and all critical issues regarding accounts and/or company policies to management immediately.
  • Provide positive reinforcement and constructive criticism to team members and escalate issues as they arise.
  • Travel to tradeshows and customer sites as required.  Depending on assignment, international travel may be required.
  • Learn and remain proficient on the client's product lines.
  • Comply with Health and Safety requirements.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Understand and follow company rules and regulations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned and required.

 

Requirements:

  • 3 - 5 years experience in managing and selling to retail accounts, specifically to Yodobashi Camera and Bic Camera.
  • 5-10 years experience in sales.
  • Fluent in English and preferably Japanese.
  • Excellent problem solving and team lead experience.
  • Strong background with forecasting and developing promotional strategies.
  • Have a good understanding of merchandising and merchandising techniques.
  • University diploma.
  • Proven track record of sales growth and/or prospecting.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain accuracy is required.
  • Computer literate with a high degree of proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills required.
  • Exceptional phone skills and etiquette required, as the majority of business is done over the phone.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 50% international and/ or domestic.
