Our client is an American software and consultancy company, providing supply chain management, manufacturing planning, retail planning, store operations and collaborative category management solutions.

Job Title: Functional Application Consultant

The business consultant provides process and functional application expertise on customer implementations of clients solutions. They work closely with the customer to understand their business needs and align a quality solution that adds business value.

Major Responsibilities

  • Ability to prepare and deliver presentations for user, and management level audiences
  • Provides advice to customers regarding industry best practices and process
  • Participate in business process analysis/design, construction, validation, and deployment phases of the project. Understands how the clients solutions within area of focus can be configured and delivered to address the customer business issues and better facilitate customer business processes
  • Develops functional specifications of design for modifications, interfaces, reports and screens that achieve customers' business objectives
  • Configures clients solution to meet agreed customer requirements specifications
  • Develops and executes test scripts to ensure software consistently meets the customer's business objectives
  • Creates and modifies procedural and system documentation throughout the project
  • Provides non-technical support during the "go-live" period. Provides primary user support and verifies that the system provides the required business functions and maintains data integrity
  • Recognizes and highlights incremental revenue opportunities with existing customers / projects
  • Serves in a supporting functional role while attending and contributing to key meetings between the clients project stakeholders, customer stakeholders, and corresponding leadership teams
  • Ensures knowledge transfer is conducted with key customer project team
  • Communicates business cases to PMG and PD regarding customer specific needs related to product functionality and enhancements
  • Communicates the value proposition of clients solutions to our customers
  • Clearly understand customer’s business requirement and clarify any misunderstanding between different business users
  • Escalates issues that may have negative scheduling or financial impact
  • Estimates specifications accurately
  • Works with project team to understand and help to provide detail functional requirements from functional specifications
  • Works closely with the customer team to guide them through all phases of the project

Required Skills

Essential experience, skills and qualifications:

  • Experience in using, implementing and configuring packaged solutions, preferably planning solutions
  • Familiar with manufacturing processes
  • Ability to manage customer expectations in regards to functional issues
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent presentation and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)

Desirable experience, skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or Engineering or other relevant discipline; Operational Research, Management or related field
  • Supply chain planning experience in retail, manufacturing industry  (>3 years)
  • Experience as a SME (Subject Matter Expert) in the field of supply chain planning
  • Experience in providing advice to customers regarding industry best practices and process methodology
  • Experience in providing services proposals and estimates
  • Experience in taking a concept though business requirements to technical design
  • User training experience
  • Experience in a consultancy firm or internal consultancy/ project role
  • Experience in working with a software vendor
  • Experience in liaising with business and IT teams
  • Advanced working knowledge of Windows based applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, MS Project)
  • Package software configuration experience
  • Business process mapping skills
  • Experience in multi-tiered applications
  • Basic understanding of databases, SQL codes
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team
  • Business English language skills (both written and verbal)
