Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development:

  • Manage, coach and mentor BDM team to deliver significant growth and growth potential within the year.
  • Deliver the Japan sales strategy in line with our APAC sales plan
  • Identify and develop new market opportunities and build relationships with customers (current and prospective) growing revenues and raising company’s profile on a consistent basis.
  • Represent company in Japan at key industry bodies and events; maintain a high profile with the Japan customer base.
  • Contribute to the development of sales processes, tools and capabilities in the Japan region based on best practices in order to contribute to an efficient and effective sales team.
  • Assist relationship management and fee negotiations with card issuers.
  • Enable growth through new licence agreements and promote rule changes to enable growth in new sectors.

Relationship Management:

  • Manage, coach and mentor RM team to improve relationship management capability leveraging the RAC process.
  • Accountable for overall relationship health, merchant advocacy and driving portfolio growth to full potential income across entire team
  • Developing portfolio strategy and structure that supports our growth ambitions in Japan and the region – covering portfolio management of customers, pricing & commercial strategy and product cross sell.
  • Developing long-term partnership with senior merchant contacts with a deep understanding of their business including their broader 2-3 year business agendas
  • Supporting team in collaborating with merchants to drive innovation in Japan and regional Fintech industry, developing our roadmap and growing our market leading value proposition
  • Inspire team to deliver Merchant Engagement outcomes by demonstrating role model behaviour
  • Ensure team and regions accurate and on time delivery of MI on a monthly basis to support regional reporting requirements

Required Skills


  • Proven Sales Leadership
  • Expert knowledge of the payments industry
  • Deep understanding of card schemes and regulatory requirements
  • Broad knowledge of all business areas including Finance, Marketing, Product Development.
  • Detailed knowledge of the card acquirer market and operating relationships across the Asia Pacific market.
