Job Description

As Business Development Manager, you will lead BD activities to acquire customers in Japan as well as to develop potential strategic partnerships. Working cross-functionally with marketing, engineering, customer support, legal, communications and any other related departments.  You will be responsible for building efficient selling model and driving customer acquisition and market penetration SMB segment and developing successful partnerships.

The successful candidate will have a breadth of functional experience in sales, business development, partnership building, and sales operation including building strategies, building, coaching, and managing a team and process optimization to achieve goals.

  • Develop strategic partnership strategy to acquire business partners to drive customer acquisition at scale.

  • Build & Refine strategies, processes and tactics to improve performance and efficiency

  • Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting potential partners; discovering and exploring opportunities.

  • Engage with Financial partners including Banks, CreditCard companies, or any equivalent financial institutes and develop partnerships and any potential business opportunities.
  • Screens potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities; recommending equity investments.

  • Monitor team performance, tracking the results, and succinctly report them to senior management

  • Use the customer voice to drive improvements in interactions and product

  • Envision new and innovative ideas and approaches and take them to fruition

  • Evangelize their brand through consistent messaging across all channels

  • Report to Head of Business Development in required format

Required Skills

  • 5-8 years professional experience in an individual contributor

  • Management role including 3+ years of management experiences is a plus.

  • Experience in business development, corporate development, sales or customer

    acquisition at B2B services or web technology companies.

  • Experience in a high transaction volume software application or financial services. Experience in Payment industry is a plus.

  • Ability to translate complexity into simple and intuitive communications

  • Comfort with ambiguity and with working in a fast-paced, always-on, start-up

    environment. Experience at venture companies or start-up are plus

  • Outstanding written & verbal written communication skills in Japanese (must be native)

    and English (at least business level)

  • Experience working in a global company or in a foreign country is a plus

  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, organizational, and communication skills

  • Bachelors degree, masters preferred
